It is said that, just as menstruation is very important in a woman’s lifespan, menopause is also equally vital. Menopause is defined to be those changes that occur in a women’s health after her menstruation stops. Hence proper care is a must. Though menopause is attained between 45 – 55 years of age on an average, many attain the same in their 30’s as well.

A common symptom of attaining menopause is lack of proper sleep during the night. If you tend to wake up in the middle of the night and could not get back to sleep or have difficulty sleeping or if you are so tired the next day due to lack of sleep, it is termed as insomnia. Drink a lot of water and refrain from alcohol to help yourself with proper sleep.
2. Irregular period cycles
Another common symptom of menopause stage is facing abnormal menstrual cycle. When your menstruation becomes irregular due to extremely high or low bleeding, it could be a sign of menopause.
3. Mood swings
Having constant mood swings or emotional changes is common during menopause. You might feel demotivated often and might feel like being in a premenstrual stage due to the lack of estrogen levels.
4. Bladder issues
When estrogen levels decline during menopause, your body stops menstruating and reproducing. Lack of this hormone weakens the bladder leading to issues like painful urination, leakage during sneezing or coughing, and urinating unexpectedly even before you reach the washroom.
5. Hot flashes
On an average, 80% of women experience hot flashes during menopause. Hot flashes are nothing but heavy sweat in the upper parts of your body, increased heartbeat rate, flushing in the neck and chest. This might last from a few seconds to 10 minutes and might occur even after attaining menopause but will reduce over time.
6. Weaker tissues
During menopause, your skin will tend to lose its elasticity in the vaginal tract thereby making it weaker. This is also due to aging. Thereby lack of estrogen will lead to a lot of hair loss. Refrain from using extensive chemical prone products for your hair.
7. Decreased libido
Due to the lack of estrogen levels, your sexual drive might be decreased along with vaginal dryness. You might feel irritated or have no interest at all. Consult a doctor if you are bothered about this.
