Marinate it first what ever way you prepare. And it's from cold storage thaw it first.
Chicken doesn't take long to cook. If pressure cooking, marianate it in advance and just put in gravy and cook up to two whistles. And if in kadai, about 10-15 minutes by covering with lid on slow flame. It becomes chewy when you overcook it.
Last night I made chiken tikka I I magnate at least 6 hours. Still no wonder happen.
Jyotee there wouldn't be any wonder by marinating for 6 hours. Secret lies in cooking it.
I make tikka by pan frying( shallow) by cooking first on high flame for 3 to 4 minutes and then lower tbe flame cover it and cook again almost for 8-10 minutes. Done.
It seems you are over cooking the chicken. Try cooking it on medium fire and covering the container. This is general. However if you give more details I could help you .
Beat the boneless chicken lightly with a meat hammer it will cook fast n will also be very tender
