Your first kitchen herb garden will be successful if you start simply. Herbs require little maintenance, and you can grow a generous supply in a surprisingly small space. Select a small patch of your yard or find a spot for a grouping of containers as close as possible to your kitchen door. Choose any spot within few paces of the door that gets at least a half day of full sun. Herbs are less needy of nutrition than vegetables, so most soil types work well. You can choose any from cilantro, basil, chives, mint, oregano, thyme, parsley. You can grow herbs from rooted cuttings - bits of the plant you encourage to grow roots. If you buy a fresh herb and want to grow it, choose a few healthy sprigs and strip all but the top three or four leaves, then snip the lower part so only a little bit of green healthy tissue remains. Plant the cutting in a pot of moist soil, then cover with a plastic bag for a few days.
U can grow herbs on u r kitchen shelf as well ...firstly choose the herbs n veggies that u use regularly... Buy small clay pots that fit on your kitchen shelf ...add good quality potting soil available in nurseries..do not use any dirt from your yard or any outside for the plants as its too heavy n tend too dry up real fast ... Make sure they get enough sunlight.. Watering the plants depends on various reason like type of soil u r using ..amount of sunlight , size of the plant etc.. Choose herbs that require partial sunlight if planning to grow them indoor like mint , marjarom, garlic , parsley etc..inorder to grow mint u can use fresh stems leaves removed from them n sow... For other herbs u can buy quality seeds from nurseries . If growing outside in full sun u can choose according to u r usage... Cilantro needs more sun n curry leaves grow into big tree ... Cilantro can be grown by spliting coriander seeds into halves n sow...
