White Biriyani

Ingredients to make White Biriyani

  • rice 3 cups
  • onion 4
  • tomato 4
  • green chillies 5
  • coconut milk 2 cups
  • coriander leaves chopped finely 1 cup
  • mint leaves finely chopped 1/2 cup
  • cinnamon stick 2 inch long
  • cloves 5 to 6
  • cardamom 3
  • bay leaf 1
  • star anise 1
  • Ghee or butter 4 tablespoons
  • water 3 Cups
  • salt to taste

How to make White Biriyani

  1. Soak rice in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In pressure cooker melt butter and add all spices.
  3. Add chopped green chilli coriander and mint. Saute well.
  4. Add finely chopped onion, tomatoes and saute nicely. Add coconut milk and water.
  5. Add salt and let the mixture come to a boil.
  6. Add rice and close the pressure cooker and steam cook for 20 minutes on a low flame.
  7. After 20 minutes, open the cooker and serve hot.

My Tip:

Thick and freshly made coconut milk will add extra taste. It is good for stomach ulcers. We can even add vegetables like beans, carrot, green peas, cauliflower and even paneer.
