Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. beetroot-2 large
  2. green peas- 1 cup
  3. salt to taste
  4. oil- 2 tsp
  5. tejpatta- 1 large
  6. cumin seed- 1 tsp
  7. hing a pinch
  8. red chilly powder- 1/2 tsp
  9. turmeric powder-1 tsp
  10. corriender powder-1 tsp
  11. garam masala powder-1 tsp
  12. green chillies-1-2
  13. onion-2 small
  14. tomato- 2 small
  15. ginger-garlic paste- 1 tsp
  16. corriender leaf- 2 tsp
  17. water as required for gravy

Instructions

  1. wash the beetroot very well in water. peel and chopped into small pieces.
  2. in a grinder grind chopped onion, tomato and green chillies to make the smooth paste.
  3. heat cooker and add oil. when the oil become hot add tejpatta,hing and cumin seed.. when the cumin seeds crackle add onion, tomàto paste. saute untill they become translucent and release oil.
  4. add tumaric powder,dhania powder and red chilly powder and stir consistently. after 5 minutes add chopped beetroot and green peas and stir well.
  5. add salt and garam masala and stir. add water. cover with lid and cook for 3-4 whistles. after 3-4 whistles remove the lid and garnish with corriender leaf and serve hot with roti or rice.
