ABOUT Kasturi Rui RECIPE

A simple dish with little twist. Iused butter instead of Musterd oil.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Rui (Rohu) Fish : 6 Picieces,
  2. two pods of Garlic+2 green chilis+ ginger paste:2 teaspoon,
  3. Onion paste 3 to 4 teaspoon,
  4. Lime juice :2 teaspoon
  5. Phoron:Pinch of coriender seeds+saunf+fenugreek seeds
  6. Beaten curd :3 teaspoon,
  7. Salt: as per taste, termeric powder:1 teaspoon, sugar :Half teaspoon
  8. Cumin powder:half teaspoon
  9. Kashmeri Red chili powder: half teaspoon
  10. Garam mashala powder: half teaspoon
  11. Refined oil: 1 tablespoon+ butter :20 g.(you can use mustered oil also)
  12. Ghee or clarified butter: 1 teaspoon
  13. Kasuri methi: a pinch of
  14. Kasuri Methi Powder: (tawa dried and grind kasuri methi) 2 teaspoon.
  15. Green Cillis: 4 to 5
  16. Water

Instructions

  1. Clean and rince the fish pieces
  2. Mix salt ,Termeric powder, half of the Kashmeri Red cilli powder, pinch of Kasuri Methi and lemon juice.
  3. Rub the fish pieces and leave it for 15 mins.
  4. Heat a Kadai- Heat the refined oil + butter, shallow fry the fish pieces drainfrom oil and keep it aside.
  5. put the Phoron(Pinch of coriender seeds+saunf+fenugreek seeds) in the remaining oil. After the seeds strat to crackle add in the onion paste and half teaspoon of sugar and fry.
  6. Add ginger- garlic- cilli paste, slight termeric powder,remaining Kashmeri Red cilli powder,cumin powder and fry it again for few mins. until the fried aroma appears.
  7. Add fish and salt and cook for 2-3 mins.Add one and half cup water.
  8. now add 3 teaspoon of beaten curd mix it well and add the garam mashala powder.add cover it with a lid and cook it for about 8- 10 mins.
  9. Open the cover add the Kasuri Methi powder Mix it well and one tespoon off Ghee. and 4-5 green cillis and cover it again .
  10. After 2 mins. switch off the burner dont open the cover and leave it for another 8-10 mins.
  11. Kasturi Rui is now ready for serve.
  12. Serve it hot with steamed Rice or Pulao.
