Black Nightshade / Solanum Nigrum, which is popularly known as Manathakali keerai in Tamilnadu region is one of the healthiest green leafy vegetable. Manathakali keerai Thanni Saaru is an excellent medicinal kuzhambu for ulcer, as it contains coconut too. Very easy to prepare and it should be served with plain white rice. The consistency of saaru should be watery and only few ingredients required to prepared this delicious saaru.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 Cups Manathakali Keerai, Chopped
  2. 2 Green Chillies, slitted
  3. 2 Medium Onions, Finely chopped
  4. 1/4 Cup Coconut, grated
  5. 1 Tsp Jeera / Cumin seeds
  6. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Take Manathakali keerai, green chillies and finely chopped onions in a deep pan.
  2. Add 2 Cups of water and cook it for 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, grind coconut and Jeera to a fine paste by adding water.
  4. Add the ground paste along with 1 - 11/2 cups of water and salt.
  5. Boil it for couple of minutes and switch off the flame.
  6. Serve with plain rice.
