ABOUT Chintakaya Pachadi / Raw Tamarind Pachadi RECIPE

Chintakaya Pachadi is a tangy chutney prepared using raw tender Tamarind / fresh Tamarind, which is very famous in Andhra and Telangana state.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 Cup Raw Tamarind ( Tender ), chopped
  2. 3 Big green chillies
  3. 10 garlic pods
  4. 1 tsp jeera
  5. handful of coriander leaves
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1tbsp Oil
  8. For Thalimpu / Seasoning :
  9. 2 tsp oil
  10. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  11. 1 tsp urad dal
  12. 2 red chillies
  13. a pinch of Hing

Instructions

  1. Wash the Raw tamarind nicely and boil it in a bowl of water for 5 minutes in a medium flame.
  2. Remove from the flame and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add the garlic pods, saute it for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the green chillies followed by Jeera, coriander leaves and boiled raw tamarind pieces.
  5. Saute it for 5 minutes and remove from the flame.
  6. Cool and grind into fine paste by adding required amount of salt and water.
  7. Meanwhile, heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds.
  8. Once it starts spluttering, add urad dal followed by red chillies and hing.
  9. Fry and add it to the ground Chutney / Pachadi.
  10. Serve with hot rice or Curd rice.
