ABOUT French Apple Cake RECIPE

We all love a simple recipe that yields incredible results. This is it! A French apple cake that can be prepared in under 20 minutes and ready under 60 minutes. It’s slightly buttery with a crumbly outside texture, and it’s incredibly moist throughout.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. FOR CAKE MIXTURE
  2. 150grams All purpose sifted (plain) Flour
  3. 130 grams Sugar
  4. 3 teaspoon Baking Powder
  5. A pinch of salt
  6. 2 Whole eggs
  7. 60mili litre oil
  8. 100 mili litre milk
  9. 3 apples( can use regular ones, but tastes best with green apples)
  10. FOR FROSTING (icing):
  11. 1 whole egg (optional)
  12. 80grams melted butter
  13. 100grams sugar
  14. 1 tablespoon lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degree celcius
  2. For the batter, add flour, sugar, baking powder, pinch of salt to a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix dry ingredients using a whisk then add 2 whole eggs, oil and milk
  4. continue whisking, until there are no lumps and set aside
  5. Pour into a well buttered non stick cake pan (mould).
  6. Peel and core the apples then cut into eight, dice each wedge into three into pieces.
  7. Place them evenly on top of cake mixture and into the oven and bake for 30 minutes
  8. for frosting:
  9. Melt the butter in microwave or a saucepan
  10. In another mixing bowl, add the sugar, and egg.
  11. Mix well using a whisk then add the melted butter.
  12. Add the lemon zest and mix well
  13. Remove cake from oven, (cake should be cooked in centre, check with a skewer first)
  14. pour the frosting (icing) mixture over the cake, ensure it covers all then replace in oven and bake for another 12 minutes.
  15. Once cooked, leave to cool for 10 minutes. Run a blade along the inside of the cake pan to separate the cake
  16. Slice and enjoy slightly warm or at room temperature
