Spinach mixed with garam flour & steamed

Hariyali Dhokla

Ingredients to make Hariyali Dhokla

  • spinach blanched - 2 cups
  • gram flour - 1 cup
  • yogurt - 1/2 cup
  • green chillies 1-2
  • ginger chilli paste 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • asafoetida - 1/4 Tsp
  • Fruit salt - 1 tsp
  • lime juice - 1tbsp
  • oil 2 tsp
  • Black mustard seeds - 1tsp

How to make Hariyali Dhokla

  1. In a bowl, add gram flour, yogurt, spinach, puree, salt, sugar, green chilli and ginger paste, add 1 tsp oil and mix well. Grease a plate or dish in a big vessel adding enough water for steaming.
  2. Before pouring the batter into a greased plate. Add fruit salt, lime juice & mix well.
  3. Put in a steamer to cook. It takes 10-12 minutes. Please check using toothpick or knife, that whether it is coming clean.
  4. Once done remove plate and keep aside. Prepare tempering, heat oil in a pan, add black mustard seeds, asafoetida, chopped green chilli.
  5. Pour this tempering on top of the cooked dhokla, cut in shapes and serve !!
