ABOUT Shahi Tukda - Double ka meetha RECIPE

This is a must desert for Eid parties, crispy fried bread dunked in creamy rabdi.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 12 bread slices preferable take sandwich breads
  2. Desi ghee to fry
  3. Pinch of saffron
  4. 300 gms / 1 medium bowl sugar
  5. 1 ltr full fat milk
  6. 300 gms condensed milk
  7. 1 small bowl Chopped pistachios and almonds
  8. Pinch of saffron for rabri
  9. 1 tsp green cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. Keep the milk to boil.... Let it reduce to half... Add the Saffron strands...
  2. Meanwhile, Cut the breads diagonally, fry them in desi ghee on low to medium heat till it turns crispy and golden brown in colour.
  3. Make sugar syrup... Take sugar in a sauce pan, add the Saffron strands... Add 1/2 cup of water.... Make the syrup upto 1&1/2 consistency...
  4. Let the syrup cool down... Then dip the fried bread in the syrup let the bread be nicely coated with the sugar syrup.... Then remove it in a plate.
  5. After the milk reduces to half add the condensed milk... Add the cardamom powder... Chopped nuts... Let it cool down... Keep some chopped nuts aside for garnishing..
  6. Arrange 1 slice of sugar coated fried bread in a serving plate... Top it up with rabri... Again Place another bread... Again top the second bread too with the rabri repeat the process as shown in the image... Serve it instantly after assembling...
  7. Finally garnish with some chopped nuts..
  8. As the sugar has 1&1/2 thread consistency it won't turn soft too soon... If u like the breads softer make the sugar syrup upto 1 thread consistency...
  9. Prefer assembling the sugar coated fried breads and rabri while serving... If you prefer crispy breads...
