Ingredients to make Healthy spinach & pulse appe

  • Bengal gram - 5 tablespoons
  • Arhar dal - 2 teaspoons
  • Split green gram - 1 teaspoon
  • Rice - 1/4 cup
  • Chopped spinach - 1/2 cup
  • Finely chopped onions - 1/4 cup
  • Finely chopped green chilies - 4-5 no
  • Salt to taste
  • curry leaves - 10
  • Oil - 2 teaspoons
  • A pinch of asafoetida

How to make Healthy spinach & pulse appe

  1. Combine daal and rice and soak for 12 hours .
  2. Drain the water and blend to a smooth paste and ferment for another 12 hours.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add onion, curry leaves, chilli, spinach, asafoetida and salt saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Add this tempering to the batter and mix well. Put the batter in a steamer.
  5. Cook till the lower surface becomes golden brown and then turn each Appe upside down using a fork so as to cook them from the other side using a little oil .
  6. Garnish with grated coconut and serve immediately.
