Spicy Nellore Fish Curry

Ingredients to make Spicy Nellore Fish Curry

  • 180 gm Basa
  • 30 ml Sesame Oil
  • 2 gm Mustard Seeds
  • 3 gm Cumin seeds
  • 2 gm Fenugreek Seeds
  • 2 gm Dried Red Chilies
  • 5 gm Curry Leafs
  • 5 gm Green Chillies
  • 10 gm garlic
  • 150 gm Onion
  • 20 gm Tamarind
  • 150 gm Tomatoes
  • 2 gm Turmeric powder
  • 2 gm Red Chilli Powder
  • 4 gm Coriander Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For the Spicy Powder (1100 gm ) :
  • 100 gm Fenugreek Seeds
  • 200 gm Mustard Seeds
  • 400 gm Cumin Seeds
  • 200 gm Coriander Seeds
  • 100 gm Black Pepper

How to make Spicy Nellore Fish Curry

  1. Heat oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, dry red chili, chopped garlic, green chili ,onion and curry leafs.
  2. Cook till onion get translucent add turmeric, red chili and coriander powder.
  3. Soak tamarind in lukewarm water for 10 minutes, take out the pulp add to the gravy. Wash and puree tomatoes, add to the dish.
  4. Cook the gravy for 15 minutes add fish to it.
  5. To make the spicy powder, dry roast all the ingredients and grind to a fine powder.
  6. Check the fish, sprinkle spicy power.
  7. Garnish the cooked fish with curry leafs and red chilli.
