ABOUT Pineapple Pachadi RECIPE

A simple tasty curry made with Pineapple and is served in every Kerala sadya/meal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Pineapple 1, chopped
  2. Freshly grated coconut - 1 cup
  3. Green chillies - 2 (adjust to taste)
  4. Thick curd - 4 to 5 tbsp
  5. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Sugar - 5 tsp (you can use jaggery)
  8. Curry leaves - a few
  9. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  10. Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  11. Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
  12. Dry red chilli - 1 (broken)
  13. water for cooking

Instructions

  1. Peel the pineapple, wash and cut into small pieces.
  2. Put them in a vessel, add a little water, salt and turmeric powder. Let it boil for a few minutes.
  3. In the meantime, in a mixer jar put coconut, green chillies, jeera and curd. Grind this to a fine paste.
  4. Check if the pineapple is done. Add the ground paste, sugar and bring to a boil.
  5. Turn off the gas. In a tadka pan put coconut oil. When hot, add mustard seeds, broken red chilli and curry leaves.
  6. Pour over the curry. Serve as an accompaniment with rice, sambhar and papadum.
