Prawns Masala

Ingredients to make Prawns Masala

  • Coconut milk 2 cups
  • Prawns 1 kg, cleaned
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Coriander leaves 1/2 bunch
  • Onions 4 finely sliced
  • Ginger pods 10 chopped
  • Ginger 1/2 inch
  • Tomato 3, finely chopped
  • Chillies 5, chopped
  • Lemon 1
  • Fennel seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric a pinch
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Aamchur a pinch

How to make Prawns Masala

  1. Clean the prawns nicely. Marinate in turmeric, chillies, curry leaves and salt. For about 20 to 30 minutes maximum.
  2. Pressure cook (2 whistle) it.
  3. Once cooked, keep prawns aside and let it cool. Keep the stock as we can use it for cooking it later.
  4. Take a pan, add oil, curry leaves and onion.
  5. Fry nicely, add ginger, garlic and a pinch of salt. Once it turns brown, keep the pan aside and let the mixture cool down.
  6. Grind the above mixture. Pour two drops of oil , Add this paste and all the powders together. Mix well.
  7. Fry until oil separates. Add coconut milk and salt according to the taste .
  8. Add prawns once the above curry turn thick. Add the coriander, lemon juice and mix everything nicely.
My Tip: Do not overcook prawns else it will taste like rubber. Clean prawns nicely. Buy big prawns.
