About Curd Rice Recipe

Curd Rice is a must lunch recipe in south India for it's cooling properties. Boiled rice in curd with aromatic tempering is served chilled.

Curd Rice

Ingredients to make Curd Rice

  • Thick curd 1/2 cup
  • Boiled rice 1 cup
  • Milk 2 tbsp
  • salt 3/4 tesp
  • Black pepper powder 1/2 tesp
  • cucumber 1
  • Sweet corn kernels 1/4 cup
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1/2 tesp
  • mustard seeds 1/2 tesp
  • cashews 5-6
  • almonds 5-6
  • Whole red chilli 2
  • chana dal 1 tbsp
  • curry leaves 1 sprig

How to make Curd Rice

  1. IN A MIXING BOWL TAKE 1/2 CUP THICK CURD, 3/4 TESP SALT, 1/2 TESP BLACK PEPPER POWDER.
  2. MIX HALF CUP FINELY CHOPPED CUCUMBER IN CURD.
  3. ADD 1 CUP BOILED RICE AND MIX.
  4. IF MIXTURE IS DRY ADD 2 TBSP CHILLED MILK.
  5. IN 1 TBSP OIL SPLUTTER 1/2 TESP EACH OF CUMIN SEEDS AND MUSTARD SEED.
  6. ADD 1 TBSP SOAKED CHANA DAL. ROAST FOR FEW SECONDS.
  7. ADD 2 TBSP CHOPPED CASHEWS AND ALMOND. ROAST.
  8. ADD CURRY LEAVES.
  9. ADD 1/4 CUP BOILED SWEET CORN KERNELS. SAUTE FOR FEW SECONDS.
  10. ADD TEMPERING TO CURD RICE.
  11. MIX.
