Ingredients to make Dal Peetha

  • Rice flour 1/2 cup
  • Hot water 1 cup
  • For Dal peethi:
  • Chana dal 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/4 tsp
  • Chat masala 1/4 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • For tempering:
  • Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Sesame seeds 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves 10-12
  • Green chillies as per taste
  • 1.5 tbsp oil
  • Chopped coriander leaves

How to make Dal Peetha

  1. Cook chana dal and drain the water using a strainer. Mash when it cools and add all the spices.
  2. Mix flour, salt, water and knead a dough.
  3. Divide the dough in equal portions.
  4. Take a portion and press it. Make a small thick roti and put dal peethi generously on half portion of circle. Fold it like Tacos. Repeat the same process for the remaining dough.
  5. Boil water in a big pot and add the taco shaped peethas to boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes and transfer to a strainer.
  6. Heat oil in a kadhai & put all ingredients of tadka. When starts tempering add dal peethas. Cook on medium flame stirring occasionally for few minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

My Tip:

Instead of boiling dal peetha we can cook them in steam for 15 minutes.
