Bisibele Bhaat

Ingredients to make Bisibele Bhaat

  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/4th cup cooked Arhar dal
  • 1 teasepoon salt
  • 1 onion , finely chopped
  • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger
  • 2 tbsp carrot , finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp boiled potatoes , finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp frozen peas , boiled
  • 1 tomato , finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp Rai
  • 1 tsp safed urad dal
  • 1/4 tsp methidana
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • Pinch of heeng
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp dhania powder
  • Pinch of haldi powder
  • 1 tbsp Bisibele bhaat masala ( you can also use sambhar masala )
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind Pulp
  • 1 tsp red chilly paste
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated coconut
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • Some water to adjust the consistency
  • 1 teasepoon haldi

How to make Bisibele Bhaat

  1. Heat oil in a pan and put rai urad dal , methidana , jeera and heeng , let them splutter, then put curry leaves and onion.
  2. Cook for two minutes, then add ginger and tomatoes, now add vegetables.
  3. Cook for two minutes, then add haldi , red chilly powder, dhania powder and saute for a while.
  4. Then put masala and salt, mix well. Add dal and some water, mix well
  5. Now add rice and mix well.
  6. Add red chilly paste and tamarind pulp , mix nicely.
  7. Now add half of coriander and mix nicely
  8. It is ready to serve. Garnish with remaining coriander

My Tip:

You can make this with leftover rice and dal , which we usually make. You can use any vegetables of your choice , which are available at home .
