Instant Jalebi

Ingredients to make Instant Jalebi

  • all purpose flour (maida) 1 cup
  • Baking powder 1 heaped tsp
  • Pinch of Orange color
  • Curd (yogurt) 1/2 cup
  • For syrup -
  • sugar 2 cup
  • water 1 cup
  • Few saffron threads
  • cardamom powder 1/4tsp
  • lemon juice 1 tsp
  • oil for frying

How to make Instant Jalebi

  1. For syrup -
  2. Dissolve sugar, saffron threads and water in a pan and keep it on the stove top.cook the sugar solution till it reaches one thread consistency. Switch off the flame and add cardamom powder, lemon juice mix well and keep it aside.
  3. Mix well the baking powder into the flour. Add the yoghurt, food color and mix well. Add enough water to make a thick smooth batter.
  4. Fill the batter in a piping bag or a cheese cloth in which a hole around 4mm diameter has been made.
  5. Heat a 1 inch layer of oil in a shallow flat bottomed pan. The oil should not be too hot. pour the batter into medium hot oil giving it a jalebi shape. Cook on a low flame till light golden brown and crisp. Remove the jalebis to a moderately warm syrup and allow the jalebis to soak the syrup(approx.. 3-4 minutes). Serve hot.
