We Indian love Amritsari Chole masale.This chole masale is a spicy and tangy chikpeas curry.This chana masala is my home style recipe with step by sep pics and very tasty and easy to make at home.

Amritsari chole

Ingredients to make Amritsari chole

  • Dry chickpeas 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Finely chopped onion 1/2 cup
  • Finely chopped tomato 1 cup
  • oil 4 tbsps
  • salt to taste
  • DRY red chilli - 2
  • bay leaf - 1
  • GREEN cardamom - 1
  • cinnamon STICKS - 2
  • BLACK pepper CORNS - 10
  • cloves - 2
  • 1 TBSP OF cumin SEEDS
  • 2-3 TBSPS OF CHOPPED garlic
  • 1/2 TSP OF turmeric POWDER
  • 2TBSPS OF coriander POWDER
  • 1 TBSP OF KASHMIRI red chilli POWDER
  • 1 TSP OF GARAM masala
  • 3 TBSPS OF CHANA masala
  • salt
  • REFINED oil

How to make Amritsari chole

  1. BRING 1 1/2 CUP OF DRY CHICKPEAS,WASH IT AND SOAK IT FOR OVERNIGHT.YOU WILL GET 3CUPS OF CHICKPEAS.
  2. BRING A PRESSURE COOKER,ADD ALL THE SOAKED CHICKPEAS.
  3. ADD 1 TSP OF SALT
  4. ADD 2-3 CUPS OF WATER
  5. ADD TWO TEA BAGS
  6. BRING A COTTON CLOTH,ADD DRY RED CHILLI,BAY LEAF,GREEN CARDAMOM,CINNAMON STICKS,BLACK PEPPER CORNS
  7. ADD CLOVES
  8. MAKE A TIGHT KNOT,ADD IT IN THE COOKER.
  9. COVER THE PRESSURE COOKER.
  10. ON THE FLAME AND PRESSURE COOK IT FOR ABOUT 4-5 WHISTLE ON MEDIUM FLAME.
  11. HEAT 4 TBSPS OF OIL IN A NON-STICK PAN.
  12. ADD 1 TBSP OF CUMIN SEEDS
  13. ADD 2-3 TBSPS OF CHOPPED GARLIC
  14. ADD 1/2 CUP OF FINELY CHOPPED ONIONS
  15. SAUTE IT FOR 3-4 MINUTES ON MEDIUM FLAME
  16. ADD 1 CUP OF CHOPPED TOMATO
  17. SAUTE IT FOR 3 MINUTES.
  18. ADD 1/2 TSP OF TURMERIC POWDER
  19. ADD 2TBSPS OF CORIANDER POWDER
  20. ADD 1 TBSP OF KASHMIRI RED CHILLI POWDER
  21. ADD 1 TSP OF GARAM MASALA
  22. ADD 3 TBSPS OF CHANA MASALA
  23. ADD SALT TO TASTE
  24. MIX WELL.
  25. ADD 3 TBSPS OF WATER,MIX THIS WELL.
  26. REMOVE THE TEA BAGS AND SPICES CLOTH FROM BOILED CHICKPES.
  27. ADD THESE BOILED CHICKPEAS IN THIS MIXTURE.
  28. MIX WELL.
  29. COVER THIS WITH A LID AND COOK IT FOR 5 MINUTES ON MEDIUM FLAME.
  30. OPEN THE LID AND STIRE IT.
  31. AMRITSARI CHOLE IS READY TO SERVE.
