ABOUT Thair Idli RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Idlis – 12
  2. Yogurt – 2 cups
  3. Sugar – 1 tsp
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Asafoetida ( hing/ perungayam) – 1/8th tsp
  6. To grind to a paste
  7. Grated coconut- 1/2 cup
  8. Almond ( badam)flakes – 1/4th cup
  9. Green chillies – 2-3
  10. Cumin seed ( jeera) – 1 tsp
  11. For garnishing
  12. Chopped coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
  13. Pomegranate – 1/2 cup
  14. Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Grind coconut, almond flakes, green chillies and cumin seeds to a smooth paste adding little water.
  2. Beat the yogurt well. Add the ground paste, sugar, salt to taste and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well. Keep it the fridge till required.
  3. To serve the Thair Idli
  4. First soak the idlis in plain water for 5 mins.
  5. Take it out and squeeze it dry gently.
  6. Arrange the idlis on a serving plate.
  7. Arrange the idlis on a serving plate. Pour over some generous amount of yogurt sauce over the idlis.
  8. Sprinkle some red chilli powder, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and pomegranate and serve immediately:)
