ABOUT Ambua RECIPE

Ambua is a delicious sweet and sour dish from Himachal Pradesh. Relish it with hot steamed rice along with a few papads for a comfort meal.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 3 mangoes
  2. 1 tablespoon arhar dal
  3. 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  4. 1/2 teaspoon chilly powder
  5. 1/2 teaspoon mustard
  6. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  7. 1/4 teaspoon methi
  8. 3 cloves garlic
  9. 1 small onion
  10. 1 tablespoon mustard oil

Instructions

  1. Peel mango and pressure cook with dal. Add a glass of water to it.
  2. Let cool, squeeze the pulp.
  3. Make the seasoning, take oil in a pan, add mustard seeds as it splutters add asafoetida and methi. aftersometime, put ginger and garlic cloves. Saute it, then put the onions.
  4. Let cook for sometime, until it is translucent.
  5. Add the mixture of mango pulp and dal to it. Put salt, let cook on a low flame for 15 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with rice.
