Monsoon and chatpatta ( tangy) hot hot food goes hand in hand. You crave for something tempting, mouthwatering. So here is a recepie to satisfy your craving.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw mango grated ( preferably not very sour), 1 bowl.
  2. Potatoes 2 boiled and mashed.
  3. Carrot grated 1 bowl.
  4. Sooji 2 tbsp
  5. Coconut grated( dried) 2 tbsp
  6. Soaked poha 2 tbsp.
  7. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  8. Green chilli crushed 2
  9. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  10. coriander powder 1 tsp
  11. Kitchen king masala 1 tsp.
  12. Coriander leaves chopped 1 tbsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. oil for shallow fry
  15. For dry pead ragda.
  16. Soaked dried peas 1 cup ( 250 grms)
  17. Onion blended 2
  18. Tomatoes blended 2 (small)
  19. Garlic crushed 1 tsp
  20. Ginger grated 1 tsp
  21. Red chilli powder 1 tsl
  22. Coriander powdet 1 tsp
  23. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  24. Garam masala 1 tdp
  25. Aamchur powdet 1/4 tsp
  26. Jaggery to taste.
  27. Khada masala ( cinnamon, cardemom, cloves , bay leaves etc) for seasoning gravy.
  28. Salt to taste
  29. Oil 1 tbsp.
  30. For garnish while servings
  31. Onions chopped 2
  32. Pomegranate deseeded 1/2
  33. Ripe mango ( totapuri ) 1
  34. Green chuteney

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook peas by adding salt.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add all khada masala. Fry for a minute.
  3. Add blended onions . Saute. Add all masala and ginger garlic. Saute.
  4. Add tomatoes. Saute everything well.
  5. Add cooked peas. Adjust all masala and salt. Boil for sometime.
  6. Add dry mango powder and jaggery. Adjust the taste.
  7. Mix raw mango, carrot, poha, sooji, mashed potatoes in a bowl.
  8. I have used Totapuri mango which is not very sour.
  9. Squeeze out if juice of mango is more. This mango doesn't have much juice otherwise you get very soft mixture which is difficult to manage.
  10. Add ginger, garlic, green chillies, Coconut.
  11. Add masala and adjust salt. Add 1 tsp oil . Mix everything with soft hand.
  12. Grease your palm and make patties.
  13. Heat little oil in a nonstick pan and shallow fry patties.
  14. Remove on absorbent papet
  15. Place your Patrice in a bowl. Pour hot dry peas curry( ragda) spread some green chutney.
  16. Serve with garnish of Onion, Pomegranate seeds , Ripe mango pieces and Coriander leaves.
  17. And here is your dish to welcome the magical monsoon.
