Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1 cup Milk powder
  2. 1/4 cup maida
  3. 1 tesp ghee
  4. 1 tbsp yogurt
  5. Milk as required
  6. 1/4 tesp baking soda
  7. Ghee to shallow fry
  8. Syrup( 1 1/2 cup sugar,2 cups water,1 tesp rose essence,few saffron strands,1/2 tesp lemon juice)
  9. 1/4 cup castor sugar

Instructions

  1. In a deep cooking vessel add sugar and water,place on low flame.
  2. Let boil till sugar melts
  3. When the syrup is a bit thick add rose essence,lemon juice and saffron strands.Switch of the flame.
  4. In a bowl add milk powder, maida, yogurt,soda,1 tesp ghee and mix it
  5. Add milk as required to knead it to a soft dough.
  6. Make equal sized balls about 15
  7. Heat ghee in a deep cooking pan ,on low flame.
  8. Add the prepared jamun balls in batches and fry till golden brown.
  9. Remove and drop in the sugar syrup
  10. Let soak for 1/2 an hour.
  11. Remove only the jamuns, drain the syrup.
  12. Roll on castor sugar.
  13. Dry gulab jamuns are ready .Tastes awesome with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
