Maach Hola (No Spice Fish Curry)

Ingredients to make Maach Hola (No Spice Fish Curry)

  • 4 pieces rohu Fish
  • 1 large Potato finely chopped thinner and shorter
  • 1 large Onion finely chopped
  • 5-6 slit Green chillies
  • 1 tsp of Turmeric powder
  • ½ cup of fresh Coriander leaves
  • 3 tablespoon of Mustard oil
  • Salt to taste

How to make Maach Hola (No Spice Fish Curry)

  1. Gently scrub rohu pieces with pinch of turmeric powder and salt. Leave this for a minute or so.
  2. Add tbsp. of mustard oil to a pan and lightly saute marinated fish for 3-4 minutes. Just sear the fish don’t fry it to golden. Set aside.
  3. Add remaining oil to pan and when it reaches smoking hot add potatoes and cook until golden. Add chopped onions and green chilies. Stir for few minutes.
  4. Now add fish along with 2 cups of water. Cook covered on low for 10-15 minutes or until fish is cooked.
  5. Season with salt and add ½ tsp of turmeric powder. Cook for few minutes and add fresh coriander. Cook for 1 minute.
  6. Turn off the flame and serve with rice.

My Tip:

Do make sure to add a squeeze of fresh lemon. Also, Maach Hola tastes great the next day, so make sure you save some for tomorrow's lunch.
