ABOUT Sijha Manda RECIPE

Its an popular Odia breakfast. It can be eat with a curry or you can eat it without any side dish. Its healthy and tasty as it uses very minimal oil.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Semolina : 1/2 cup
  2. Water : 1 cup
  3. Refined flour : 1 tbsp.
  4. Chopped vegetables : 1 cup
  5. Onion : 1
  6. Oil : 2 tbsp.
  7. Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
  8. Turmeric : 1/2 tsp
  9. Red chili powder: 1 tsp
  10. Sabji masala : 1 tbsp.
  11. Salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. HEAT 1 BOWL WATER IN A KARAI. WHEN IT STARTS TO BOIL ADD A MIXTURE OF 2 TSP FL + 3 TBSP. WATER IN IT
  2. WHEN THE MIXTURE STARTS TO BOIL ADD 1/2BOWL SEMOLINA IN IT AND STIR CONTINUOUSLY TO AVOID ANY LUMPS.
  3. WHEN IT FORMS A DOUGH LIKE STRUCTURE SWITCH OF THE FLAME AND KEEP ASIDE.
  4. IN PAN HEAT 2 TBSP. OF OIL AND ADD 1/2TSP CUMIN SEEDS IN IT FOLLOWED BY 1 FINELY CHOPPED ONION.
  5. WHEN ONION BECOMES TRANSLUCENT ADD CHOPPED VEGGIES. ( CARROT, BEANS, PEAS, CORN, POTATOES)
  6. THEN ADD 1/4TH TSP TURMERIC POWDER, 1/2 TSP RED CHILI POWDER, 1 TSP SABJI MASALA AND SALT TO TASTE.
  7. MIX EVERYTHING AND ADD LIT. WATER IN IT. COVER AND COOK TILL ALL THE VEGGIES ARE COOKED PROPERLY.
  8. IN THE MEAN TIME TRANSFER THE DOUGH IN A PLATE AND BY THE HELP OF WATER MAKE A SMOOTH DOUGH
  9. TAKE A SMALL PORTION IN HAND AND MAKE A WELL.
  10. PUT 1 SPOON OF VEGGIE MIXTURE INSIDE THE WHOLE AND SEAL IT FROM EACH SIDE AND MAKE A BALL SHAPE.
  11. STEAM IT IN AN IDLI MAKER FOR 10 MINUTES AND SERVE WHEN IT COOLS DOWN.
