Chicken Biryani with Raita

Ingredients to make Chicken Biryani with Raita

  • 2 full legs cut into pieces
  • 1 cup Basmati Rice
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cloves, 1 tejpatta
  • 2 small and 2 big elachi
  • 1 dalchini stick
  • 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tsp butter
  • oil
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp meat masala
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp lalmirch powder
  • 1/4 tsp Jeera
  • 2 Chopped Onions
  • 4-5 tbsp curd
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • few strands of kesar
  • For the garnish-
  • Roasted cashewnuts
  • Chopped Coriander
  • For the raita-
  • 300-400 gms curd
  • Chopped tomatoes and cucumber
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp jeera powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • Pinch of powdered sugar

How to make Chicken Biryani with Raita

  1. Wash rice, put salt and cook it 75%.
  2. Take karahi put oil add cloves, small and big elachi, tejpatta, jeera, dalchini stick.
  3. When they crackle add chopped onions saute till brown.
  4. Add all dry spices and little water cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add chicken pieces and roast on high flame for 3-4 min.
  6. Add curd on low flame, saute it for 10-12 minutes on low flame.
  7. Put water as required and cook chicken ( not fully).
  8. Now add parboiled Rice and kesar dissolved in milk.
  9. See there will be enough water so that chicken and rice gets cooked completely.
  10. Cover the lid and put karahi on hot tawa on low flame until biryani is cooked.
  11. Garnish with chopped coriander and roasted cashewnuts.
  12. Serve hot with Raita.
  13. For Raita whisk curd add all the ingredients and mix well.

My Tip:

Put curd on low flame to avoid curdling.
