About Sambhar Recipe

A south indian cuisine loved by all. When you dont like to eat simple dal, just try sambhar.

Sambhar

Ingredients to make Sambhar

  • Rahar dal - 1 glass
  • Masoor dal - 1 glass
  • water - 6 glass
  • salt
  • haldi - 1 tspn
  • pepper powder - 1 tspn
  • Sambhar masala - 2 tspn
  • Gourd- 1/ 2 kg
  • tomatoes - 6
  • Brinjal -1
  • green chillies - 4
  • onions -3
  • Red chillies - 2 to 3
  • mustard seeds - 1 tspn
  • tamarind puree -1 cup
  • curry leaves -4 to 5

How to make Sambhar

  1. WASH THE DALS(RAHAR+MASOOR) AND ADD IN THE PRESSURE COOKER
  2. ADD 6 GLASSES OF WATER
  3. PREPARE CHOPPED GOURD, TOMATOES, CHILLIES, ONIONS
  4. ADD HALDI
  5. PEPPER POWDER
  6. ADD SALT
  7. ADD THE CHOPPED VEGETABLES
  8. MIX WELL
  9. CLOSE THE LID AND ALLOW 2 WHISTLES
  10. OPEN THE LID, MASH THEM PROPERLY
  11. ADD SAMBHAR MASALA
  12. MASH THE TAMARIND, ADD THE PUREE
  13. ADD THE TAMARIND PUREE IN THE SAMBHAR
  14. ADD THE TAMARIND WATER
  15. HEAT OIL, ADD MUSTARD SEEDS
  16. RED CHILLIES AND ALLOW THEM TO CRACKLE
  17. PUT THE CHHAUK IN THE DAL
