ABOUT Mukkani Millet Paniyaram/ Appe RECIPE

This is an authentic tamilnadu dish.Mukkani in tamil means three fruits -Mango, Jackfruit and Banana . I have used all these fruits along with grains to make paniyaram or Appe. This is a healthy snack for all ages.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Mango pieces -1 cup
  2. Jackfruit-6
  3. Banana -2
  4. Jaggery-1 cup
  5. Bajra -1/2 cup
  6. Foxtail Millet-1/2 cup
  7. Jowar -1/2 cup
  8. Kodo millet-1/2 cup
  9. Urad dal-3/4 cup
  10. Methi seeds -1 tablespoon
  11. Elachi powder-1/2 teaspoon
  12. Ghee or oil-1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak all the millets , urad dal and methi seeds together in water for six hours.
  2. Then drain the excess water and grind them in mixie into smooth batter with little water. Consistency should be like that of idly batter
  3. Add little water to jaggery and once it boils strain for impurities
  4. Now grind all the three fruits along with jaggery syrup and add it to the batter .Mix well along with elachi powder
  5. In appe pan/ paniyaram kadai add little ghee an pour the batter in each mould.flip over and cook other side
  6. Serve hot
