ABOUT Gujia RECIPE

Gujia is a popular sweet dish in north India. Gujia recipe is associated with the festival of Holi.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 100 grams maida (all purpose flour)
  2. 1 Tablespoon Ghee (melted)
  3. 100 grams Khoya
  4. 100 grams decicated coconut
  5. 1 Tablespoon powdered sugar
  6. 1 tablespoon chopped mixed dry fruits (Cashew nut, almonds, raisins)
  7. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Take a mixing bowl and put maida and ghee. Mix nicely with your fingertips until becomes crumbly.
  2. Then by adding water little by little, knead a medium tight dough. Keep it for half an hour to rest.
  3. In a mixing bowl put khoya, coconut, sugar, dry fruits and mix nicely. The stuffing is ready.
  4. Make small balls from the dough and roll them into thin Chapati, not very thin.
  5. Now put the stuffing in the center of the rolled out Chapati and with your fingertip apply little water on all sides, now fold the Chapati from one side and give the shape of gujia, it will become like a half Chapati.
  6. Now make the design by pinching the folded side, with your thumb and index finger. If you find it difficult then just press the sides with a fork, it should be sealed properly.
  7. Heat ghee in a pan, first on high them make it slow. Slide ready gujia in the hot oil very slowly, fry them on low heat, by turning them at regular intervals.
  8. Fry until becomes light brown in color. Now drain and remove.
  9. Gujias are ready. You can store in airtight jar.
