Spicy Cabbage

Ingredients to make Spicy Cabbage

  • One head of cabbage, about 500 gms
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Chilli powder - half a teaspoon, cumin seeds, haldi, both 1/2 a teaspoon. Salt to taste.
  • Chana dal - 1 tablespoon
  • Curry leaf - a little bunch

How to make Spicy Cabbage

  1. Chop the cabbage very fine. Wash the cabbage before chopping.
  2. Take a medium sized Pan and add two tablespoons of oil.
  3. Heat the oil and when it turns smoky, add cumin seeds and mustard seeds.
  4. Add the Chana dal and fry it for 5 minutes.
  5. Add curry leaf and stir for a minute.
  6. Add chilli powder, haldi and salt.
  7. Now add the cabbage and mix it properly with masalas.
  8. Cover it with the lid and cook it on medium heat only. No need to add any water.
  9. Keep stirring, if it gets burnt, just sprinkle some water.
  10. It will be cooked in 15 minutes. Serve it in a bowl and garnish it with fried red whole chillies.

My Tip:

Add a tablespoon of grated fresh coconut, while cooking.
