Ingredients Serving: 12

  1. For Halwa:
  2. ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  3.  cup light Brown sugar
  4. 2 tsp. ground Cardamom
  5. 1 Egg
  6. 1/3 cup all purpose Flour
  7. For Blondies:
  8. 2 cups all purpose Flour
  9. 1 ½ tsp. Baking powder
  10. ĵ tsp. Salt
  11. 1 ½ cups light Brown sugar
  12. 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted Butter softened
  13. 2 Eggs
  14. 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  15. 1 ½ cups Walnuts coarsely chopped and toasted

Instructions

  1. Start by making halwa. On low heat, in a small and heavy sauce pan melt in butter. Stir until butter foam diminish and start to turn brown, nearly in 5 minutes.
  2. Take this off heat and leave it to cool for 15 minutes. Add in sugar, ground cardamom and beaten egg. Combine well and add flour and mix until all the ingredients get combined.
  3. Leave it at room temperature. Preheat your oven at 350F. Take 13x9 baking pan and line with parchment and grease lightly with cooking spray. Take a bowl and mix in flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  4. Cream brown sugar and butter until light and fluffy say for about 5 minutes. Now add eggs and vanilla and whisk again. Fold in the flour mixture slowly by adding spoon by spoon until well combined.
  5. Add in half of walnuts. Add two thirds of the batter to the prepared baking pan; smooth it evenly to the edges. Top it with prepared halwa and then add batter over the top.
  6. Run your knife in a swirl to create marbled effect. Sprinkle remaining walnuts on all over the top.
  7. Bake for 30-32 minutes until blondies turn nice golden and firm with gooey centers. Upon cooling cut into squares and serve with coffee.
