Batido also known as “Licuado” is a Latin American beverage similar to a smoothie which is made with milk, fruit and crushed ice. They are also sometimes called “preparados”. The main difference between a licuado and an American-style smoothie is that licuados use a milk base with ice, whereas smoothies use fruit juice in combination with yogurt.

Ingredients to make Batido De Papaya Y Mango (Latin American Papaya And Mango Smoothie)

  • papaya- 2 cups; cut into chunks (I used about 1/2 a medium papaya)
  • mango- 1 cup; cut into chunks (I used 1 medium mango)
  • Milk- 1 ½ cups or 360 ml (Vegans can use almond milk)
  • sugar- 3-4 tablespoons
  • Crushed ice- 1 cup

How to make Batido De Papaya Y Mango (Latin American Papaya And Mango Smoothie)

  1. Add the cubed papaya and mango to a large blender and puree it until smooth. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth and lump free.
  2. If it is too thick, add a little more milk or water. Check for sweetness and adjust accordingly. Serve. :)

My Tip:

Some fruits may not be that sweet and in that case you have to add more sugar to adjust the sweetness to suite your taste.
