Spinach and Chana dal Idli

Ingredients to make Spinach and Chana dal Idli

  • Cracked wheat(thin)-2 cups
  • spinach-1 bunch
  • chana dal-1/4 cup
  • mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Red chlli powder -1 tsp
  • curry leaves
  • Green chili-2 chopped
  • salt to taste
  • oil-1tbsp

How to make Spinach and Chana dal Idli

  1. Wash and chop the spinach it. Soak chana dal for 3-4 hours. Soak cracked wheat for 1/2 an hour.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds ,red chilli powder and curry leaves.
  3. Once it splutters, add spinach and chana dal. Saute for 2-3 mins. Remove from gas.
  4. Mix cracked wheat and spinach together, add water to make batter like idli batter.
  5. Steam idlis in idli pot and once it is ready, let it cool for 5 mins.
  6. Serve with chutney .
