This is a popular, traditional & typical bengali dish. it's a very easy recipe. Hilsa fish become available in rainy season. There are many outher popular preparation of this fish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ilish Mach/ Hilsa fish 7 pics
  2. Shredded coconut 1 cup
  3. Black mustard seeds 1 tablespoon
  4. yellow mustard seeds half tablespoon
  5. Curd 2 tablespoon
  6. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Poppy seeds 1 tablespoon
  8. mustard oil for tablespoon
  9. splitted green chilli eight pieces
  10. salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. The hilsa fish should be washed clean then add 1/4 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and marinate it for 10 minutes
  2. Soak poppy seeds in little warm water for 10 minutes. Then drain out the water. blend together poppy seeds, mustard seeds, green chillies coconut and some little salt to make a fine paste using little water.
  3. Take a container add 2 tbsp curd 1 teaspoon turmeric powder 2 tbsp mustard oil and coconut-mustard seeds paste mix all the ingredients very well with hilsa fish. keep it aside for 15 minutes
  4. Add 2 tbsp mustard oil shredded green chilli, salt (as per taste). Then cover the container with clean plastic wrap. then make some small hole with a fork.
  5. Place the container in microwave oven then cook it for 8 to 10 minutes at medium temperature (540 w)
  6. After 10 minutes steamed Hilsa is ready.
  7. Searve it hot with hot steam rice.
