Ingredients to make Banoffee Pie/ No bake dessert- Using Dulche De Leche

  • 180 gms/ 13 digestive biscuits/ Graham crackers
  • 100 gms melted unsalted butter
  • 1 can / 400 gms Dulche de leche
  • 2 large Bananas sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon / lime / orange juice
  • 300 ml whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • Chocolate for decorating (chocolate chips/ chocolate shavings/ cocoa powder)

How to make Banoffee Pie/ No bake dessert- Using Dulche De Leche

  1. Crush the digestives using a food processor or mixie or just crush them using a rolling pin. Next remove the crushed biscuits into a bowl, add the melted butter and mix it thoroughly.
  2. Now press this firmly onto a greased tray/ pie pan / flan dish / or a loose bottom cake tin. Once done place in the refrigerator for half an hour or until firm.
  3. Now slice the bananas and drizzle the lemon /lime /orange juice. this step helps in avoiding the discoloration of bananas.
  4. Bring out the crust out and pour the Dulche de leche over it and spread it evenly.
  5. Next layer the slices of banana over this. Place this again in the refrigerator at least for half an hour.
  6. Meanwhile start whipping the cream in a bowl, add the cream and sugar and whip it until soft peaks using a whisk / hand mixer / stand mixer. Now bring the tin out and spread the whipped cream evenly over it.
  7. Place this in the refrigerator at least for an hour. Later garnish it according to your taste using chocolate chips or cocoa powder.
  8. Serve this creamy caramel yumminess to your loved ones making your special days even more special.

My Tip:

To prepare Dulche de leche- In a pressure cooker, place a can of condensed milk (factory sealed). Pour enough water, so that the can is completely immersed in water, close the lid and attach the weight/ whistle. Cook for three whistles. First whistle took 15 mins, so in total 20 mins. Turn off the heat and wait until all the pressure is released by itself. Let the can cool completely before opening. Dulche de Leche is all ready to make fabulous desserts. Caution : Allow the pressure to get released all by itself... Do not open the can until it cools down to room temperature...
