Pre Heat your oven at 160 degree celcious or 320 degree Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.
Combine all the dry ingredients. Take a big bowl and sift and add the 1 cup of all purpose flour/maida.
Sift and add 1/2 cup of besan/chickpea flour. This sifting step will remove all the lumps from flour.
Add 1/4 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp of green cardamom powder into this.
Mix all the ingredients very well. and keep it aside.
Now take a another bowl and add 1/2 cup of melted butter and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. Mix it very well for at least for 5-7 minutes or until you see the pale color or light yellow color.
After 5-7 minutes you will see the nice and fluffy batter.You have to achieve the light and fluffy consistency.
Now mix all the dry ingredients into the butter and sugar batter batch wise and mix everything well.
If you feel your dough is becoming dry you can add butter but do not add milk or water. Just combine everything and gather all the ingredients together. and your cookie dough is ready.
Take a baking tray and grease it with little bit of melted butter.
Now start making the naan khatai or butter cookies. For that take a small portion of a dough and make a round shape of it.Then press it gently and try to flatten it little bit with your finger. Just to give a naan khatai shape
Now place these naan khatai or butter cookies on a gresed baking tray one by one. Make sure you maintain the distance while putting naan khatai on a tray so that it will have enough space to puff up.
At last put some nuts on top of it and decorate it.
Now its time to go these naan khatai in the pre heated oven for 25-30 minutes. Keep an eye on it so that these will bake accurately.
After 25-30 minutes take it out and let it cool down completely.
And your yummy naan khatai or butter cookies are ready to serve. Enjoy.
