Ingredients to make Eggless chocolate cake with chocolate frosting

  • For the cake:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups ground sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 Cup water
  • 1/2 cup veg oil
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 5 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup Yoghurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • For the frosting:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 4 tbsp cocoa
  • 6 tbsp cold milk
  • Chopped Almonds

How to make Eggless chocolate cake with chocolate frosting

  1. Sift and combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon and baking soda. Set aside
  2. In a sauce pan heat water, oil, butter and cocoa powder. Bring to a boil
  3. Add to the flour mixture.
  4. Add yoghurt and vanilla essence and mix well.
  5. Bake at 180°C for 20-30 mins in a pre heated oven. The toothpick test works well for this :)
  6. For the icing, in a saucepan, combine butter and cocoa. Bring to a boil.
  7. Remove from the heat and add sugar and then cold milk and stir.
  8. Pour over the hot cake and sprinkle with chopped almonds

My Tip:

Because the cake is a little soft, its better to bake in a dish that you can serve in as well rather than a baking tin.
