Ingredients to make Pork Burger (Indian Style)

  • 1 kg Pork mince (use any meat that you)
  • 1 large red Onion finely chopped
  • 4 clove Garlic finely chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 large green Chilli finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 2 tsp dry Chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Pineapple cut into thick slices
  • 1 Tomato sliced
  • ½ red Onion sliced finely
  • Cos lettuce shredded
  • A few sprigs of fresh Coriander leaves
  • Barbeque sauce
  • Salt to season
  • Burger buns

How to make Pork Burger (Indian Style)

  1. To make spice blend, take a pan and dry roast cumin seeds and coriander seeds. Leave to cool and grind to fine powder by adding chili flakes.
  2. To make burger patties, mix minced pork with red onion, garlic, ginger, green chili, egg, salt and above made spice blend. Chop finely manually or in food processor.
  3. Shape the mixture into round patties and set aside. Brush oil to a greased pan and grill these patties till done. Flip to cook evenly and to get char grilled marks. Leave these patties to rest for 2 minutes before assembling sandwiches.
  4. Cut burger buns in half and grill along with pineapple pieces for extra crunch.
  5. Now start assembling the sandwich, by placing shredded lettuce on bottom half of the bun and top it with patty, barbeque sauce, grilled pineapple slice, tomato, onion and coriander leaves.

My Tip:

While grilling the pineapple:Make sure the grill is smoking hot to instantly caramelize the sugars which keeps the crunch intact and seals the juices inside; on low heat, the pineapple slices go limp and soggy.

Pineapple will add a lot of zing to this burger but dont think its necessary. I would also try gherkins or jalepenos. Adds so much flavour to a burger
