Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. one cup rice
  2. half cup urad dal
  3. salt to taste
  4. Water to soak and grind
  5. For Boorelu stuffing
  6. 1 cup chana dal
  7. 1 cup jaggery
  8. 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  9. 1/4 freshly grated coconut
  10. 1 tbsp ghee
  11. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Clean rice and urad dal , soak for 5 to 6 hours. Drain excess water
  2. Grind rice and dal with water to form smooth thick batter
  3. Add salt to Batter and keep it aside. You can use it immediately or ferment batter for 3-4 hours
  4. Soak chana dal for 30 minutes. Pressure cook for 6-7 whistles
  5. Once steam is released, drain excess water
  6. Grind chana dal, jaggery and cardamom to smooth consistency
  7. Heat ghee in a pan, add the ground mixture and grated coconut. Mix well
  8. Cook until it starts leaving sides of pan. Switch off. Allow to cool
  9. Make lemon sized balls. Coat in batter and drop in hot oil
  10. Fry until golden brown over medium heat. Drain excess oil on absorbent towel
  11. Offer as Prasad to Lord or Serve as is. Best served warm
