Veggie Appa's

Ingredients to make Veggie Appa's

  • Chana Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Dhuli moong daal - 1/2 cup
  • Dhuli urad dal - 1/2 cup
  • Rice - 1/2 cup
  • Carrot ( fine chopped) - 1/2 cup
  • Capsicum ( all three) - 1/2 cup
  • Cabbage - 1/2 cup
  • Onion chopped - 1/2 cup
  • Chopped tomato - 1/2 cup
  • Green chilies chopped - 2
  • coriander leaves chopped - 1/4 cup
  • ginger chopped - 1 Tablespoon
  • chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Ajwain - 1 Tea spoon
  • Garam Masala powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • For Chutney:
  • Grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Green chillies - 3
  • coriander leaves - 6 strings
  • curry leaves - 10-12
  • Tamarind puree - 1 Tablespoon

How to make Veggie Appa's

  1. For Appa's : Soak all the pulses for 5 -6 hours. Grind them to a thick paste.
  2. Add all the chopped vegetables and spices. mix them well and keep it aside.
  3. Take the appa stand and grease it with oil.
  4. Heat the stand, for 2 minutes at medium flame and start filling the moulds with the batter.
  5. Cover the stand for 5 minutes, once cooked from one end, flip the appas with the help of a spoon, and cook it again for 2 minutes.
  6. Take the appas out of the stand, place them in serving plate.
  7. For Chutney:
  8. Take all the ingredients in a grinder and grind all of them to form a smooth chutney.
  9. Plate the appa's with the chutney, serve them hot.

My Tip:

make sure the appa's turn golden from both the sides.

Do v need to keep the batter for fermentation or immediately once batter is ready v cook it
