Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chana Dal - 1/2 cup
  2. Dhuli moong daal - 1/2 cup
  3. Dhuli urad dal - 1/2 cup
  4. Rice - 1/2 cup
  5. Carrot ( fine chopped) - 1/2 cup
  6. Capsicum ( all three) - 1/2 cup
  7. Cabbage - 1/2 cup
  8. Onion chopped - 1/2 cup
  9. Chopped tomato - 1/2 cup
  10. Green chilies chopped - 2
  11. coriander leaves chopped - 1/4 cup
  12. ginger chopped - 1 Tablespoon
  13. chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  14. Ajwain - 1 Tea spoon
  15. Garam Masala powder - 1 teaspoon
  16. Salt to taste
  17. For Chutney:
  18. Grated coconut - 1 cup
  19. Green chillies - 3
  20. coriander leaves - 6 strings
  21. curry leaves - 10-12
  22. Tamarind puree - 1 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. For Appa's : Soak all the pulses for 5 -6 hours. Grind them to a thick paste.
  2. Add all the chopped vegetables and spices. mix them well and keep it aside.
  3. Take the appa stand and grease it with oil.
  4. Heat the stand, for 2 minutes at medium flame and start filling the moulds with the batter.
  5. Cover the stand for 5 minutes, once cooked from one end, flip the appas with the help of a spoon, and cook it again for 2 minutes.
  6. Take the appas out of the stand, place them in serving plate.
  7. For Chutney:
  8. Take all the ingredients in a grinder and grind all of them to form a smooth chutney.
  9. Plate the appa's with the chutney, serve them hot.

Do v need to keep the batter for fermentation or immediately once batter is ready v cook it
