Meenum Mangayum Chaar (Fish & Raw Mango Curry)

Ingredients to make Meenum Mangayum Chaar (Fish & Raw Mango Curry)

  • 2 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 6 Shallots sliced
  • 3 green Chillis cut into half lengthwise
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • 3 cloves Garlic smashed
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves (divided to two)
  • 1 small raw Mango diced
  • 2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 6 Fish heads/slices of medium sized fish
  • 1 cup Water or thin Coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup Coconut milk (first press)
  • 1 tsp Coconut oil to drizzle on top.

How to make Meenum Mangayum Chaar (Fish & Raw Mango Curry)

  1. Take a wok/kadai and add coconut oil to it.
  2. When it starts to warm add shallots, chilies, ginger and garlic. Saute till shallots turn transparent.
  3. Now add half of curry leaves, mango along with all the powders. Stir and avoid burning of powders. Drop in fish and add water to the wok. Gently stir to combine everything.
  4. Cook covered for 10 mins or till fish is cooked.
  5. Add first pressed coconut milk and simmer the gravy. Don’t let it to boil.
  6. Turn off the flame and remove unto serving dish. Drizzle coconut il and garnish with remaining curry leaves.

My Tip:

Coconut oil & Curry leaf make this dish magical.
