Traditional Potato Roast

Ingredients to make Traditional Potato Roast

  • Potatoes 4
  • Onions 2 chopped
  • Garlic 5 cloves chopped
  • Ginger 1 inch piece chopped
  • Red chilly powder 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves a few
  • Oil 2 tablespoons

How to make Traditional Potato Roast

  1. Wash the potatoes well and cut them into slightly thick round pieces along with the skin.
  2. In a pressure cooker add the potatoes, onions, ginger, garlic, red chilli powder and salt. Add just enough water and cook them for one whistle.
  3. Now heat oil in a frying pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves and allow them to splutter, then add the cooked potatoes along with the remaining water.
  4. Cook until all the water evaporates and then roast for few minutes.
  5. Garnish and serve hot.

My Tip:

Be careful not to overcook the potatoes since it make break. Always cook with the skin it tastes superb.
