ABOUT Chhena poda RECIPE

Chhena poda is a traditional dessert of Odisha. It is a burnt cottage cheese cake. It is prepared from home made fresh chhena. It is a so soft dessert with the goodness of chhena which is a rich source of protein.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Milk -1liter
  2. Sour curd -2tbsp
  3. sugar-5tbsp
  4. Cardamom Powder -1/2tbsp
  5. Broken cashew nuts -2tbsp(optional)
  6. Ghee-1tbsp
  7. Semolina-2tbsp
  8. Banana leaf/butter paper-1

Instructions

  1. Put the milk on the gas stove. When the milk boil add the curd.
  2. When the milk curdles switch off the flame.
  3. Strain the chhena from the whey and keep aside.
  4. Knead the chhena gently.
  5. Add semolina,sugar, cardamom powder, cashew nuts and mix it well.
  6. Add ghee and whey to it and mix it probably.
  7. Grease a baking pan or tin with ghee. Then place the butter paper or banana leaf in it and geese it also with ghee.
  8. Pour the chhena mixture into it .
  9. Place a tawa on a gas stove and switch on the flame. Put a pressure cooker over it.
  10. After 5minutes put the baking tin into it.
  11. Cover the cooker without whistle over it.
  12. Cook it for 1hour in low flame.
  13. Then switch off the flame and open the lid.
  14. Let it be cool down to room temperature.
  15. Cut it into small pieces and enjoy it.
