ABOUT Kokni Machhi Pulao RECIPE

I call it so as at our kokani homes our fish pulao is typically done in this manner.Kokni Muslims belong to kokan areas known fir salt pans too,Ratnagiri,Uran ,Badlapur are examples.The fish here is Rawas,panfried and coconut based too.Hara masala sure is the main taste tickler.Do it so and enjoy

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 6 pieces middle portion of Rawas Fish
  2. 500 grams kolam or tukda basmati rice as per choice
  3. 2 small onions
  4. 1 cup grated coconut
  5. 100 grams curd
  6. 1 bunch of corriander
  7. 2-4 green chillies required
  8. few curry leaves
  9. 4- 5garlic pods
  10. 2 tbspn ginger garlic paste
  11. Oil to pan fry fish
  12. 2tspn ghee
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 1 tspn pepper
  15. 1tspn Garam masala optional

Instructions

  1. Chop onions thin,fry golden keep aside
  2. Clean fish pieces apply salt lightly keep aside 5minutes
  3. Wash fish again
  4. Make green paste with green chilli ,corriander,garlic pods salt.and coconut scraped
  5. Apply this green paste to the fish pieces
  6. Heat oil and pan fry fish pieces
  7. Add the fried onions to saute in the same oil as fried fish ,lightly stirring.
  8. Add ginger garlic paste saute salt as per taste and 1tspn pepper saute all 2minutes
  9. Add salt ,garam masala and beaten curds
  10. Wash rice now and add to boiling mix
  11. Add water as managing the mix to cook rice 10 minutes
  12. Remove half the cooked pulao in a serving bowl
  13. Place 3 pieces fried fish
  14. Top with rest of pulao,and place rest of the fried fish on this
  15. Pulao is ready to serve
