ABOUT Gathiya RECIPE

Gathiya is very famous farsan of Gujarat. Made from besan. Soft and tasty.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 500 gms besan
  2. 1 tsp crush black pepper (kuti hui kali mirch)
  3. 1 tsp ajwain crushed
  4. 1 tsp soda
  5. Oil as per requirement
  6. Salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. On a pan add black pepper, ajwain, salt and soda. Heat it for 5 minutes. Add this into the besan.
  2. Take 1 and a 1/2 cup of warm water. Add salt and soda in it and pour in the besan. Add 1/4 cup oil and make a dough. To make it softer mix 1 tsp oil in the water.
  3. Take a sancha (Gathiya maker, sev ka sancha) set gathiya net and press to release the soft besan dough. Heat sufficient oil and fry the gathiya sev in it. Fry till it slightly changes colour.
  4. Transfer on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Store in an airtight container.
