Khatta Meetha Petha/Kaddu

Ingredients to make Khatta Meetha Petha/Kaddu

  • Petha/kaddu -1/2 kg
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds -1 tsp
  • Onion -2 medium finely chopped
  • Ginger paste -1 tsp
  • Salt - less than 1 tsp or acc to taste
  • Red chilly powder- less than 1/2 tsp or acc.to taste
  • Turmeric- 1/4 tsp (optional for this dish)
  • Desi shakkar -3 tbsp / sugar - 1 n half tbsp
  • Dhaniya powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala for garnishing.
  • Dhaniya (optional)
  • White vinegar- 1 tsp

How to make Khatta Meetha Petha/Kaddu

  1. Cut the petha into small flat cubes. Wash it with water.
  2. Take a pan. Add oil. On heating add fenugreek seeds.
  3. After sauting for 5 seconds add onions. Keep sauting.
  4. Add ginger paste n continue sauting.
  5. When the masala turns brown add salt , red chilly, turmeric dhaniya powder. Saute.
  6. Immediately add white vinegar on full flame n keep stirring while u add vinegar so that masala doesnt burn.
  7. And add the shakkar n let it dissolve while u keep sauting.
  8. After sauting for 1 min add petha and mix it well. Then lower the flame and cover it with the lid for 1 min.
  9. Now add water around half glass .mix it n cover it with the lid . It will take 15-20 min to get ready.
  10. Mash some of the chunks n add garam masala .
  11. Khatta -Meetha Petha /Kaddu is ready to eat.

My Tip:

This dish turns equally good with sugar also. And u can pressure cook it also that takes 5 min after first whistle on slow flame. U can add dhaniya leaves too.
