Ingredients to make Madhra

  • rajma (red) boiled 1 cup
  • yogurt 250 grams
  • Garam masala 1- 2 tsps
  • tej patta (bay leaf) a few small leaves.
  • cinnamon 1 inch piece
  • salt to taste
  • red chilli powder to taste

How to make Madhra

  1. Soak the beans (rajma) overnight. Boil and keep it aside.
  2. Beat the yogurt well
  3. Heat the oil in a deep pan till it turns smoky.
  4. Add the yogurt and keep stirring on medium fire till it curdles.
  5. Add salt, red chili powder and some turmeric (optional) and mix it well in the yogurt mixture.
  6. Cook till all the water has evaporated. When only solid curdled yogurt is left in the pan, add the Rajma
  7. Now pour it in the serving dish and sprinkle garam masala on top. Serve it with steamed rice.
