ABOUT Malai Kulfi RECIPE

Kulfi is a famous frozen diary dessert popular in Indian subcontinent. Malai kulfi is very rich and creamy kulfi that tastes amazing. Adding khoya or malai to this kind of kulfi gives it another level.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Whole milk or fresh full cream milk 2 cups
  2. Custard powder 2 tablespoon
  3. Khoya or mawa 3 tablespoon
  4. Sugar 3 tablespoon
  5. Cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Mixed crushed dry fruits 2-3 tablespoon
  7. Few kesar strands ( optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat milk in a saucepan.
  2. Take 2-3 tablespoon of warm milk and custard powder in a glass and mix .
  3. Mix well. Be careful not to form lumps.
  4. Add this mixture to the warm milk and mix well.
  5. Add sugar and cook till mixture becomes thick in consistency. Transfer the mixture in a jar.
  6. Add khoya or mawa to the mixture. Mix well.
  7. Add crushed dry fruits (keep some aside for garnishing)and cardamom powder.You can also add some saffron strands.
  8. Mix well to incorporate.
  9. Take 2 kulfi moulds. As I don't have mould I took two tall glasses. Put some crushed dry fruits at the bottom of the glasses or mould.
  10. Pour kulfi mixture to the glasses( half fill)/mould.
  11. Cover the glasses with cling film.
  12. Keep in the freezer for about an hour.
  13. After an hour insert ice cream sticks to the kulfis, cover and again keep in the freezer for at least 4 hours to set completely.
  14. At the time of serving garnish with some more dry fruits . Scrumptious malai kulfi is ready to enjoy.
