A very healthy option to satisfy the odd hours hunger pangs.

Moong Dal Uttapam

Ingredients to make Moong Dal Uttapam

  • For batter :
  • 1 cup moong dal (soaked overnight and ground)
  • 2 tbsp curd
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • salt to taste
  • For Uttapam Toppings
  • 1/2 cup of fresh chopped fenugreek leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp grated carrot
  • 2 tbsp Chopped cauliflower
  • green chillies
  • Oil/ghee to saute

How to make Moong Dal Uttapam

  1. Pour a ladle of batter on a nonstick pan. Spread it a little with the help of the backside of the ladle.
  2. Sprinkle the assorted vegetables as mentioned in the ingredients, in the given order.
  3. Pour 1-2 tsp of oil/ghee just on the sides of the uttapam and cover it with a lid for 2-3 mins on a slow flame.
  4. Now remove the lid and carefully turn the uttapam upside down. Cook it on a high flame for a few minutes till you the cauliflower and onions golden and crispy. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Notes : 1. The lentil paste must be at room temperature at the time of making uttapams. 2. Adding veggies in the order given helps the tiny fenugreek leaves to stick well at the base and the cauliflower getting mild golden colour.
